#FreeKesha

Imagine that you’re a recording artist and you are contractually  bound to make six more albums with your rapist. Let  that resonate for  a few seconds.

This is allegedly the case for ‘Tik-Tok’ singer Kesha who recently lost her case in court against her long time producer Dr Luke. Dr Luke was accused of drugging her and raping her when she was 18, she said she was “sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abused”.

Whether he did it or not isn’t the issue. The issue is how her case has been treated, if a rape victim  watching from the outside became aware of how the Judge  denied Kesha’s request to be free from Dr Luke, this would lessen  their confidence to speak up and probably has discouraged girls who have heard Kesha’s case.

Would Kesha need more of Dr Luke’s victims or actresses to pretend to also speak up against him just like the Bill Cosby case? Would it it be more believable? Or is it simply because she’s a woman? The last thing I want to do is jump to conclusions but it’s interesting how Zayne from One Direction was able to walk away from a band he no longer wanted to be in without any cases of abuse and also bring his own songs out. Now isn’t that interesting.

A rally of celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Demi Lavato and Lorde have come forward in support of Kesha, using the #FreeKesha on their social media posts. which has cause more controversy between Taylor and Demi, as Taylor Swift has donated $250 000  but Demi disagrees with this gesture and tweeted “Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I’ll be impressed” suggesting that helping rape victims is more important.

My heart goes out to Kesha, the facts are not clear but the fact that she has been silenced despite these allegations true or not is a clear fact. If you want to support Kesha please click on this  link:  http://freekesha.com.
